Executive Leaders
John Warren
President
Bio
John Warren is a proven leader with over 28 years of experience leading high-performance teams in challenging and complex operations. Prior to Joining Capital in January 2021, John served as General Manager for Clark Construction Group for the state of Texas where he successfully managed large-scale, multi-phased projects including the $117M Frost Tower in downtown San Antonio.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University in 1996, John served nine years with the U.S. Marines Corps. During John’s career with the Marines, he led combat operations in Southern Afghanistan shortly after the events of September 11, 2001, and returned to the U.S. in 2002. Upon returning to the U.S., John was selected to be one of twelve instructors at the infantry officer course where he served as Deputy Director until he resigned his commission as Captain in 2005.
John and his wife Kari have been married for 20 years and have two sons, Jack, and Grayson, along with two golden retrievers, Tucker and Riggs.
Ed Belmares
Chief Operating Officer
Bio
Prior to joining Capital, Ed was the owner of IConnect, LLC, a management consulting firm focused on business strategy and business management consultancy for small and medium-sized businesses. It is through that consulting work, that Ed found his way to Capital.
Prior to beginning his own management consulting firm, Ed served as the Chief Operating Officer for KFW Engineers and Surveying, Assistant City Manager for the City of San Antonio, and Vice President of Business Operations for CPS Energy. Ed earned a Master of Science degree in Public Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Ed has been civically engaged throughout his career. He is currently a Trustee for the San Antonio Water System (SAWS), the past-Chair of the San Antonio Board of American Heart Association, formerly the Chair of the March of Dimes board, board member for the San Antonio Mission Heritage Society, and board member for the United Way of Comal County.
Ed is married to Niki Belmares and they have three children, Stevie, Marisol, and Diego.
Don Austin
Chief Financial Officer
Bio
Prior to his tenure at Capital, Don partnered with a college friend and bought an air conditioning company in central Texas where he began to learn service and construction. After selling that business, he began consulting work, helping businesses to increase margins and meet management goals. Capital was a client of Don’s through consulting work. Later, Don joined the Capital team as Chief Financial Officer in 2021.
Prior to his consulting business, Don earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Baylor University. He was recruited by Arthur Andersen, LLP, and earned his Certified Public Accountant license while beginning his career in the oil and gas audit division. He then went on to a corporate controller position, fulfilling SEC reporting requirements with a publicly traded holding company and venture capital fund of funds firm in Dallas.
Don is an active leader in his community, serving on the Wurstfest Association, Downtown Rotary, Brauntex Performing Arts Theater, and New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation boards.
Don is married to Paige and they have four children.
