CPS GivingGrills Recruits CAPITAL for REAP Program Fundraiser
CPS Energy hosted its inaugural United Way GrillsGiving event on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Mission County Park. Participants and guests were able to enjoy a festival-like atmosphere, including a competitive BBQ cook-off, local food truck favorites, live music, artisans and activities for the kids.
Although it was an extremely chilly day CAPITAL cook-off team members set up a well decorated booth and warm guest seating area for guest to enjoy. Cook-off Chef and Electrical Project Manager, Ronnie Villanueva entered his famous chicken, ribs and brisket while also serving guests of the event sample portions of the chicken, sausage and brisket.
Net proceeds from the event benefited the REAP (Residential Energy Assistance Partnership). REAP was established in 2002 through a partnership between CPS Energy, Bexar County and the City of San Antonio. The program provides financial assistance to help the elderly, medically dependent and low-income families with young children with their utility bill. CPS commits up to $1 million annually toward REAP, which provides direct customer assistance.
