Collins Garden Elementary School

Collins Garden Elementary School hosted its bi-annual Careers on Wheels Day, November 21st, 2014 and invited over 15 different public and private entities to make a presentation to the children at all grade levels.

This event runs 7:30am – 11:30am where participating companies can address each classroom individually by presenting key career information, demonstrate tools used on the job and provide promotional items for their enjoyment.

CAPITAL staff was delighted to return to the school in an attempt to recruit boys and girls of all ages to consider becoming future electricians. Joe Davila and Rudy Diaz explained basic functions of their jobs, highlighted tools of the trade and wowed the kids with a variety of LED lights. Jeffery Gamboa (pictured standing in the truck) demonstrated his safety skills while operating a bucket truck.

By the end of the day Jeffery Gamboa turn out to be the hero of the event after retrieving a slew of soccer balls, basketballs and volleyballs from the roof. All in all it turned out to be a productive experience for everyone involved.
